Columbus Mentoring Initiative

The Columbus Mentoring Initiative is a mentoring program for youth between fourth and eighth grades. The goal of the mentoring program is to provide youth with positive role models who will encourage and support the youth, therefore, reducing and decreasing the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

We offer two types of programs: school based and community based. The school based program will match youth, on the south and west sides of Columbus, in grades four through eighth with mentors to help with class work, subject enrichment, and positive social interaction. The community based program will match youth, on the south and west sides of Columbus, in grades sixth through eighth grades with mentors who will coordinate and attend activities with the youth. Activities include sporting events, drug-free alternatives, and cultural events.
